What we collect
Your email address, the role you choose (student or landlord), and the profile details you give us (name, university, listing details). Students who sign in with a .ac.za email are marked verified. We also store the applications, reviews, and messages you create on the platform.
How reviews stay anonymous
Place reviews are shown to others under an anonymous handle, never your name. We keep an internal link between a review and its author only to prevent abuse and to comply with the law — it is not shown publicly.
Your reputation as a student
Landlords can review you as a tenant. This information is personal data and is shared only with you and with landlords you choose to apply to. You can always see what has been said about you on your dashboard.
Why we process your data
To run the marketplace: to show listings, route applications, enable resident chat, calculate trust rankings, and keep the platform safe.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We use Supabase (infrastructure) to host data. Landlords and students see only what the features above intend them to see.
Your rights (POPIA)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to processing. Email privacy@digshub.co.za and we will respond.
Security
Access to data is controlled at the database level (row-level security), so users can only see what they are entitled to.
